Progress – up to June 29
- Shaped and compacted subgrade, removing all topsoil before shaping and packing the
- exposed subgrade.
- Placed geotextile and subbase course material.
- Access at the intersection of Banas Drive and Dawn Way was restored.
- Installed the approach culvert and the crossroad culvert.
Issues
- An increasing amount if topsoil was found and removed which caused the sub-grade
- elevations to be below design with minimal cross slope
- Elevations can be seen to be around 50-100mm below design and from can reach up to 400mm below design
- When elevation differences exceeding 100mm below design were identified, JRCC instructed that stockpiled
- subgrade material was to be placed back on the road as fill to bring elevations back up to design grades
Progress – June 29 – July 6
- Diamond Construction excavated the existing road, removing all topsoil before shaping and packing exposed sub-grade.
- Installed the crossroad culvert under Banas Drive.
- Regraded previously placed subbase course material to define the roads cross section and achieve the desired 4% slope.
- JRCC instructed Diamond Construction to attempt to mix the stockpiled gravel with suitable fill material previously excavated and stockpiled on-site to bring elevations up to grade.
- JRCC inspected road sub-grade construction, bearing witness to proof rolling and placement of geotextile.
- JRCC took shots of the subgrade approximately every 10m after the removal of the topsoil to ensure an accurate quantity of additional subbase courses could be determined.
- JRCC inspected the installation of the new culvert. This included verifying that the alignments and elevations were within acceptable tolerance of design as well as checking for general conformance to design.
Update – August 26, 2026
- Development and Banas paving have been postponed until September 3rd, 2026.
