RM of Brokenhead Heritage Committee Mission Statement 

To maintain community commitment in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead for the identification, preservation, and promotion of past, present, and future heritage resources and to provide opportunities for public awareness, education, and participation in heritage conservation.

The RM Heritage Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at 1:00 pm in the RM council room. Formal membership is by invitation but interested parties are welcome at meetings. Contact the RM office if you would like to be added to the agenda.

Heritage By-Law

 

Current Heritage projects that the committee is working on include:

-mapping of Brokenhead heritage sites including schools, churches, cemeteries, stores and Post Office sites.

-identifying heritage families that have owned the same land for 100 years or more as of 2020. A plaque in honour of these families is planned to be erected at the Brokenhead Municipal Office site.

-reviewing and recommending heritage road names in the municipality following Provincial road naming policy. 

-digitizing heritage documents to be included on this site.

-involving local schools in Brokenhead heritage projects.

-research of local history.
