Solid Waste
The R.M. of Brokenhead does not have a landfill or transfer station of its own. Our residents are permitted to use the following landfills and transfer stations in neighboring municipalities:
- R.M. of St. Clements Landfill & Transfer Stations
- Oakwood Transfer Station
Garbage Pick-Up
Garbage pick-up is not provided by the municipality and can be arranged on a private basis. Private waste disposal contractors in the area may be obtained.
Recycling
The recycling facility for the R.M. of Brokenhead residents is located at the R.M. of Brokenhead yard at 72013 Road 42E.
E-Waste
E-waste refers to electronic consumer products that are considered to be obsolete, unwanted and available for discard. Items include computer equipment and peripherals, televisions, telephones and accessories, and audio and video equipment.
Hours that items will be accepted are:
Winter (November 1 to March 31)
Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday Closed
Summer (April 1 to October 31)
Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There is an E-waste trailer parked by the R.M. of Brokenhead recycling compound to collect these items. The recycling attendant will assist you to move your old or non-working electronics to the trailer during the hours of operation of the recycling depot. These items, once the trailer is full, are taken to a facility in Selkirk for recycling.
RM OF Brokenhead Burn Site
The Rural Municipality of Brokenhead Burn Site, located on Road 38E between Miles 74N and 75N, is opening for the 2024 season.
The site will be open the following Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A fee of $5.00, cash only, will be charged at the gate for all day use. Only clean burnables such as grass clippings, leaves, branches and garden waste will be accepted.

Rural garbage pick-up is not provided by the municipality and can be arranged on a private basis.
