Road Maintenance
The RM maintains approximately 400 miles of municipal roads, including both directions of travel. Maintenance includes regular blading, snowplowing, and general upkeep.
Note: Provincial highways and service roads are maintained by Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure.
Drainage
Drainage is critical to both agricultural and residential properties, especially during spring thaw.
If you have a drainage concern:
- Complete a Drainage Request Form and submit it to the RM Administration Office.
- The concern will be assessed, and if required, a drainage license will be applied for to allow work to proceed.
Civic Addressing & Signage
The RM uses a logical civic addressing system to improve emergency services and navigation:
- North/South Roads: Road 33E to Road 48E
- East/West Roads: Mile 66N to Mile 87N
- Yardsite addresses use a 5-digit format based on distance from intersections (approx. 8m per unit).
- Odd numbers are on the north/east side of the road; even numbers on the south/west.
Example:
Address: 79037 Road 46E
→ Located 37 units north of Mile 79N on Road 46E, east side of the road.
Civic Signs:
- The first green address sign is provided by the RM for free.
- Replacements must be purchased by the property owner.
- To request a new or replacement sign, contact the RM Administration Office.
Municipal Standards
Road, drainage, and infrastructure standards adopted by Council must be followed in all new developments, including in Tyndall and Garson.
